Dr. Akhtar joined the practice in October 2011 after completing the Nottingham Vocational Training Scheme. She is currently the Clinical Lead for Dispensary, Medicines Management, and Prescribing. In addition to her leadership roles, she is actively involved in clinical research within the practice and serves as the CQC Registered Manager.
Dr. Akhtar plays a key role in Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) initiatives and the management of long-term conditions, such as heart failure. She has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring and serves as the Clinical Lead for both the Pharmacy Team and Physician Assistants. She has supported numerous professionals through the Independent Prescriber course and is a strong advocate for integrating community pharmacy services into general practice.
As the Lead for the Pharmacy Team within the Rushcliffe Primary Care Network (PCN), Dr. Akhtar has been instrumental in embedding pharmacists into general practice. She also works with the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) as the Prescribing Lead, contributing to the development of local prescribing guidelines in collaboration with the Local Area Prescribing Team.
Dr. Akhtar has a keen interest in clinical processes and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. She has been actively involved in innovation and digital transformation within general practice and was a key advocate and driver behind the successful implementation of the Total Triage model.
